Today, at the new base of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL), the servicemen of the Marine Corps are celebrating their professional holiday.

A separate KFL Marine Regiment was formed on December 1, 2018 at the base of the city of Kaspiysk in Dagestan.

The “black berets” approached their holiday with excellent performance in combat training. During 2021, about 2 thousand combat firing of squads, platoons, companies were carried out, more than 4 thousand tactical training sessions were held, more than 10 bilateral company and battalion tactical exercises with live firing.

The KFL marines practiced tasks as part of a tactical amphibious assault during a bilateral brigade exercise together with motorized rifle units of the 58th Combined Arms Army, as well as bilateral battalion tactical exercises in cooperation with the aviation of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District (Southern Military District).

With mortar and artillery units, as well as anti-tank platoons, camp artillery gatherings were carried out with practical firing from artillery guns, multiple launch rocket systems, 2S12 Sani mortar systems and Metis and Fagot anti-tank missile systems. In total, during the academic year, as part of combat training activities, the Marines shot about 2 million ammunition from various types of small arms.

As part of airborne training (ATP), the KFL marines performed more than 2 thousand parachute jumps from heights of 800 to 3 thousand meters at night and daytime in full combat gear to various landing sites. The VDP events were organized and held jointly with the aviation of the 4th Army of the Air Force and the Air Defense of the Southern Military District. The marines performed jumps from the Mi-8AMTSh Terminator transport and combat helicopters using the modern special-purpose parachute system Arbalet-2 and D-10.

To date, the marine units of the flotilla are fully equipped with personnel and modern models of weapons and military equipment, including the latest BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, significantly superior to the BTR-80 in firepower, modernized 122-mm D-30 howitzers, multiple launch rocket systems “Grad-M”, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) “Eleron” and “Orlan”, etc.

Marines receive modern models of small arms, including the latest Kalashnikov AK-12 assault rifles, “Ratnik” combat equipment, as well as floating body armor “Korsar-MP” that have no analogues in the world.

At the new base in Dagestan, all the necessary infrastructure and training and material base for organizing the service and the training process with the KFL Marine Corps units have been prepared for the military.

Training facilities, in terms of their capabilities and carrying capacity, make it possible to efficiently and fully organize the conduct of combat training events. At the training grounds of the coastal troops of the KFL, tactical training fields, headmistress, autodromes and a military shooting range are equipped. The latest technical training aids (simulators) allow servicemen to practice shooting and driving skills in various conditions of modern combined arms combat, to improve practical skills without consuming ammunition and motor resources.

The Marines of Russia are the elite of the Armed Forces and a branch of the coastal forces of the Russian Navy, designed to conduct combat operations as part of amphibious assault forces. At present, all marines are persistently improving their combat training, are kept in constant readiness to perform tasks as intended. The marines of the Russian Navy are always ready to successfully complete the most difficult tasks, in fact proving their motto – “Where we are – there is victory!”

During the celebrations on the territory of the Marine Corps regiment, the CFL servicemen laid wreaths and flowers at the foot of the obelisk in memory of the Marines who died in the line of military duty, honoring their memory with a minute of silence.

The distinguished servicemen from the command of the flotilla were presented with awards and valuable gifts.


The Russian Marine Corps is a branch of the Russian Navy’s coastal forces designed to conduct combat operations as part of amphibious assault forces. It includes the formations of the Pacific, Northern, Baltic and Black Sea fleets of Russia, as well as the marine units of the Caspian Flotilla.

The creation of the Russian regular marines was associated with the struggle of Russia for access to the Azov and Baltic seas in the late 17th – early 18th centuries.

The first lines in the history of the Russian Marine Corps were written on November 27 (16), 1705. On this day, the Decree of Peter the Great was issued on the creation of the first “regiment of naval soldiers” in Russia.
