Victoria Abramchenko. “Save the Forest” campaign

“Every year the campaign“ Save the Forest ”attracts more and more enthusiasts. Thanks to the activity of our citizens, this year we managed to set a record – to plant more than 70 million trees. This is almost twice as much as in previous years. By tradition, the action was supported by all regions of Russia. But the action was especially active in the regions affected by forest fires this summer. The first reforestation work began in Yakutia, ”said Victoria Abramchenko.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that 1.3 million people took part in the events across the country. This year, 200 thousand more people took part in the action than last year. The number of participants from volunteer organizations and corporate volunteers has grown. “I hope that in 2022, reforestation activities will attract even more citizens,” added Victoria Abramchenko.

All regions of Russia traditionally took part in tree planting events. In total, over 4 thousand landing points were registered on the interactive map on the official website of the “Save the Forest” campaign (save the forest.rf) in 2021.

This year, within the framework of the “Save the Forest” campaign, a new initiative “Tree of Life” was launched: young families in which a baby has appeared will receive a unique gift – a certificate that makes it possible not only to plant a tree, but also to name it after their child … Starting next year, tree planting certificates will be handed out to families in registry offices or maternity hospitals as part of a gift set. In order to take part in the landings, parents will need to register on the saveimles.rf website.

This year, special emphasis is placed on regions affected by wildfires in the summer of 2021. The start of the action was given in Yakutia in August. In the same place, just a week later, a jubilee, millionth seedling was planted.

The organizers of the action did not pass by the Chelyabinsk region. There, seedlings were planted near the affected villages of Dzhabyk and Zapasnoye as part of the “Save the Forest” campaign.

Large-scale events took place in Karelia: thanks to the efforts of local residents and forestry staff, almost 100 thousand seedlings were planted there.

Mordovia, where there were several large fires in August, planted 27 thousand trees at the end of the season.

The Nizhny Novgorod region, which also suffered from forest fires, entered the top 5 regions in terms of the number of trees planted: more than 2.5 million seedlings were planted there.

The final event of the action took place in Crimea, where more than 70 people planted over 3 thousand ash seedlings in the Simferopol forestry.

The northernmost landing point was the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where dwarf birches were planted on the territory of the Seyakhinsky boarding school. The southernmost landing took place in Dagestan, in the foothills of the Caucasus. The most eastern point was the Kamchatka Territory, the event took place near Klyuchevoy Lake, and in the west – in the Kaliningrad region, the city of Pravdinsk.
