Due to the difficult epidemic situation, specialists from a separate reconnaissance aviation squadron of the Western Military District began to develop the first batch of liquefied oxygen for transfer to hospitals in the Smolensk region in accordance with the appeal of the head of the region.

With the help of the oxygen-producing stations DTP-70 and TKDS-100, the military personnel of the aerodrome technical support began to generate additional volumes of purified medical oxygen. In total, since October 2021, over 26 tons of liquid oxygen have been transferred to the city clinical hospitals of the cities of Pochinok, Khislavichi, Safonovo, Smolensk for the needs of patients with coronavirus infection.

Special liquefied oxygen is required for the functioning of the systems of the Su-24 bombers’ aviation complexes, especially for high-altitude flights and ejection.

The reconnaissance aviation regiment, stationed in the Smolensk region, became the third unit of the Western Military District, providing assistance to civilian medical institutions in regions with a difficult epidemiological situation. A similar mobile unit was also deployed by specialists of the special medical unit of the Western Military District in the city of Orel.
