An event dedicated to the 125th anniversary of Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov was held in Moscow near the necropolis of the Kremlin wall under the leadership of Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, Hero of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Alexander Matovnikov.

The ceremony of laying flowers to the urn with the ashes of the military leader was attended by: the leaders of the High Command of the Ground Forces; officers of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Land Forces “Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”; cadets of the Moscow Higher Military Combined Arms Command School; pupils of the Moscow Suvorov military school and the cadet school named after G.K. Zhukov; members of the Yunarmiya movement and veterans of the Armed Forces.

In addition, representatives of the Victory Commanders Memory Fund, led by the leader Natalya Koneva, daughter of Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Konev, took part in the commemorative event.

“Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov is one of those who made the greatest contribution to the victory of our country over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War. His glory was, is and will remain nationwide … ”- said the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces.

Also, Lieutenant General Alexander Matovnikov stressed that for the Ground Forces this military leader is also important because he is the first commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces in the history of the Russian army.
