On the territory of school number 22 in Rostov-on-Don, a monument to the Soviet commander, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Khristoforovich Baghramyan was unveiled.

The solemn event took place on December 2, on the birthday of Ivan Khristoforovich.

The opening ceremony was attended by servicemen of the Southern Military District, a company of the guard of honor, representatives of the administration and public organizations.

Soviet military leader Ivan Khristoforovich Baghramyan was born in 1897. During the Great Patriotic War, he commanded the first Baltic and third Belorussian fronts. The holder of seven Orders of Lenin is also twice Hero of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union.

After the war, already during the Cuban missile crisis, Baghramyan headed the development of a plan for the delivery and deployment of the Soviet group of forces in Cuba and directed the operation on the part of the Soviet Union. Baghramyan died on September 21, 1982, becoming the last of the marshals who commanded the fronts in the Great Patriotic War. The urn with the ashes of the famous military leader is buried in the Kremlin wall on Red Square in Moscow.
