Command flights took place in the Kaluga region. The crews of more than 5 long-range Tu-22m3 bombers took part in them.

Flight crews worked out takeoffs and landings, flights in formation and at low altitudes. Flights took place in the daytime and at night.

On the ground, the engineering and technical staff worked out the standards for the maintenance and preparation of aircraft for repeated flights at established time intervals.

In organizing, conducting and supporting the command flights, only the leadership of the aviation regiment and subunits was involved in order to demonstrate to the young officer personnel the peculiarities of preparing the airfield, aviation equipment and support equipment for the flight shift.

“Young officers were able to see in practice how the experienced instructor staff coped with the assigned tasks,” said the commander of the aviation regiment, Colonel Oleg Timoshin.

Command flights are traditionally carried out several times a year and are aimed at increasing the efficiency of organizing and ensuring flight safety, as well as performing flight missions.
