The crews of the bomber regiment of the Western Military District began their first scheduled flights at the reconstructed Baltimore airfield in the city of Voronezh.

During training flights, the crews of the bombers worked out takeoffs and landings in various weather conditions, with different courses in non-afterburner modes at altitudes up to 17 thousand meters. outside the city limits.

The new runway was tested after the reconstruction of the Baltimore airfield, to which the bomber regiment of the Leningrad Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Western Military District was relocated, and a set of verification measures for radar equipment and flight support systems was carried out.

In just one flight shift, over 20 sorties were made, about 10 aircraft were involved, as well as over 500 servicemen of the air regiment’s flight and engineering personnel.

The opening ceremony took place on October 23 on the eve of the beginning of the winter training period in the troops of the Western Military District.

In 2013, Baltimore airfield operated with restrictions to carry out work to expand the airfield network. In connection with the reconstruction, the personnel of the regiment performed combat training tasks using the runway of the temporary airfield Buturlinovka (Voronezh region).
