In St. Petersburg, students of the Military Institute of Continuing Professional Education of the VUNC of the Navy “Naval Academy” together with the students of the sponsored school No. 189 “Chance” organized and held an event in memory of the famous Soviet submariner Alexander Marinesko.

In the museum of the school, officers met with students in grades 5-7. In just one day, three sessions were held. The audience presented reports to the children – Captain 3rd Rank Grigory Stadnik and Captain 3rd Rank Pavel Strochan.

The students learned about the combat activities of submarines in the Baltic Sea during the Great Patriotic War. Particular attention was paid directly to the biography of Alexander Marinesko, his participation in the Great Patriotic War, the story of the S-13 submarine and the “attack of the century” – the sinking of the Nazi liner “Wilhelm Gustlov” on January 30, 1945.

Funeral and solemn events dedicated to the memory of the great submariner were held at the Theological cemetery. It was attended by representatives of the city administration, employees of the Museum of the Submarine Forces, students of naval educational institutions, as well as relatives of the famous submariner.

The event ended with the laying of flowers and the solemn passage of the company of the guard of honor.
