The conference is taking place on December 9-10 in St. Petersburg.

Dear participants and guests of the conference!

On behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation, I welcome you to St. Petersburg and wish you fruitful work.

In the modern world, it is impossible to ensure sanitary and epidemiological well-being in isolation. The success of the fight against pandemic and infectious diseases directly depends both on the effectiveness of the work of departments, and on the clear coordination of their actions in a multilateral format, close interaction of scientists, doctors, healthcare organizers of all countries. Currently, the relevant plans have been approved and are being implemented at various international platforms, including the World Health Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Today we are all united by one thing – a sincere desire to make sure that humanity is not threatened by outbreaks and the spread of dangerous infectious diseases. It is extremely important that the conference provides an opportunity for leading Russian and foreign scientists, representatives of international organizations to discuss a wide range of issues, including the study of the causative agent of COVID-19 and the impact of the evolution of this virus on the course of the disease. And also exchange experience, new knowledge, the latest scientific achievements and developments in immunoprophylaxis and treatment of COVID-19.

I am sure that the conference will serve to further develop the dialogue and will become another step in strengthening cooperation between our countries in the field of countering COVID-19. And your recommendations will be in demand in practice and will help save the lives of many people.

I wish you success, interesting discussions and all the best.

M. Mishustin
