An artillery fire raid, air strikes and heavy flamethrowers were shown to officers and generals of the Central Military District during an operational training camp near Orenburg.

Practical actions took place at the Totsk training ground. According to the plan of the exercise, a large illegal armed formation crossed the border of the union state, built a fortified area inside the bordering territory, periodically committed provocations with the use of weapons. The command decided to inflict a crushing defeat on the enemy in order to restore state borders and demonstrate intolerance to such actions. The maneuvers took place in the conditions of the enemy’s use of special operations forces, sabotage and reconnaissance groups, kamikaze drones and many mine traps. To destroy the fortified area, the modern experience of the troops of the Central Military District, obtained in recent local conflicts, was applied.

Practical actions began with a salvo strike by dozens of Grad rocket systems, Msta-S and Khosta self-propelled howitzers. They were supported by a link of Su-34 generation 4 ++ multifunctional fighter-bombers and two pairs of Mi-24 attack helicopters. For the first time, during the training of the leadership, the combat use of heavy flamethrowers TOS-1A was shown. The remaining enemy forces were destroyed by tank and motorized rifle units. For this, more than 1,000 servicemen and more than 200 units of military equipment were involved. To counteract the enemy’s radio-controlled mine-explosive devices, the Lesochek radio interference systems, which have no analogues in the world, were actively used. During the offensive, the new-generation Arachis-2 radio stations were tested, which have recently entered service with the Central Military District. Artificial intelligence was also tested for portable anti-aircraft missiles. The calculations of MANPADS for the first time destroyed targets using the promising complex of automated control of cover means “Kaus”. Thanks to the built-in gadgets in the glasses, the aiming of the shooter on the target was automated. During the gathering, it was also noted that thanks to the new technology, the Central Military District troops increased the range of radio reconnaissance three times.

The operational-combat training of the Central Military District takes place from December 14 to 17 at the training ground in the Orenburg region under the general leadership of the commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin.
