Military doctors of the mobile multidisciplinary hospital of the Southern Military District (YuVO) completed work to help the population of the Republic of Abkhazia in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. The personnel of the mobile hospital turned down the medical equipment and began to march to the point of permanent deployment.

As part of the automobile convoy, military doctors of the Southern Military District will march more than 800 km long, including in difficult mountainous conditions across the territory of the Krasnodar Territory and Adygea.

On the eve of his departure, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Abkhazia Nodar Avidzba thanked the military doctors of the Southern Military District for the work done and noted the enormous contribution of Russian colleagues to the fight against coronavirus infection. Russian doctors were awarded with departmental medals, diplomas and certificates for help provided in the treatment of residents of the republic from COVID-19.

In a mobile multidisciplinary hospital deployed in Sukhum on August 18, 2021, more than 2 thousand residents of the Republic of Abkhazia who became ill with a new coronavirus infection were admitted for treatment and consultation.

649 people underwent inpatient treatment, 1500 people underwent outpatient treatment.

At the request of the leadership of the Republic of Abkhazia, in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, Russia sent a mobile multidisciplinary hospital to Sukhum in order to increase the bed capacity and provide medical care to patients with a confirmed diagnosis of a new coronavirus infection in the Transcaucasian republic.
