We decorated the city festively, turned on festive lighting, opened fairs and skating rinks. And in addition there is also an amazing Moscow transport. He himself is beautiful, festive, but now in New Year’s decoration, “said Sergei Sobyanin.

50 electric buses and 20 Vityaz-Moscow trams were decorated with bright LED garlands. Also dressed up 11 cars of the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), 1460 buses, four automatic complexes “Parkon” of the Center for Traffic Management (TsODD) and about two thousand taxi cars. The tradition of decorating equipment for the New Year is also supported by the Moscow city economy complex. More than 600 New Year’s communal cars will operate on the streets of the capital. Special equipment was decorated with garlands, light elements and stickers with New Year’s symbols (Christmas trees, snowflakes, deer, snowmen and other elements).

In addition, during the holidays, security measures will be strengthened on transport, especially in the metro, the MCC, MCD and bus stations. In particular, they will increase the number of security service duty shifts. Police dog handlers with service dogs will also work. The road patrol crews of the TsODD will take to the road. Public utilities will also work in an enhanced mode on holidays.

New Year’s mail and gifts

Like last year, the capital’s transport complex installed five New Year themed trees in the city: on the square of Kievsky Vokzal, next to the MCC Luzhniki station, near the Northern River Station and the buildings of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Moscow on Petrovka, as well as at the Oleg Tabakov Theater on Malaya Sukharevskaya square.

From December 24, at the Northern River Station, in the metro at the 31st counter “Live Communication”, at bus stations and bus stations, New Year’s mail will work. This is a joint project with Russian Post. Those who wish can send a letter to Santa Claus or a postcard with congratulations.

At the end of December, a skating rink will open at the Northern River Station. Also, soon, near the entrances to 23 metro stations, glowing letters M will be installed, near which passengers will be able to take holiday photos.

On December 23, information pylons with QR codes will appear on the pedestrian zone of the Moscow International Business Center “Moscow-City”, at which you can point your smartphone, which will allow you to see augmented reality – flying objects around high-rise buildings.

In addition, many gifts and souvenirs were prepared for the passengers of city transport. They can be obtained by participating in contests on the pages of Moscow transport in social networks.

Transport update

Moscow continues to implement the largest urban public transport rolling stock renewal program in recent history. In 2021, the city purchased 400 electric buses and 71 trams. In total, over the past 10 years, the capital has acquired about 700 modern trams, as well as 900 electric buses. The capital’s tram fleet has been renewed by 87 percent.

This year, over 300 new carriages (42 trains) entered the metro line, including the most modern modifications of the Moscow-2020 trains. Since 2010, the subway has received almost four thousand new cars, and today the fleet consists of more than two-thirds (68 percent) of rolling stock of new series.

In addition, the park of the Moscow Central Diameters has been completely renewed. Passengers MCD-1 and MCD-2 are transported by modern Ivolga, EP2D and Lastochka trains.

The high rates of renewal of the Moscow public transport fleet will continue in 2022. It is planned to supply 336 metro cars, 500 electric buses, 95 trams and 396 suburban electric trains.

900th electric bus

On the eve of the new year, 2022, the 900th electric bus entered the city routes of Moscow – a representative of a new generation of cars assembled by KAMAZ PTC at the Sokolniki Carriage Repair and Construction Plant. This electric bus, like the rest of the 299 cars of the party, was purchased with funds received by the Moscow Government from the placement of green bonds.

“Today is a great and very good event. The 900th electric bus arrived. As we promised, there will be about a thousand cars by the end of the year. Moscow is number one in terms of electric buses. You can be proud, ”said the Mayor of Moscow.

Moscow has become the largest customer and operator of electric buses in Europe. Since 2021, the Moscow Government has stopped purchasing diesel buses, with the exception of urban transport only for mobilization needs. In just three years, the city fleet of electric buses began to number 900 cars.

In 2022, they plan to purchase another 500 electric buses, and by 2030 the entire fleet of Mosgortrans should become environmentally friendly. For this, the city plans to purchase at least 500 electric buses every year.

Electric buses for Moscow are supplied by domestic manufacturers – GAZ Group and KAMAZ PJSC. Under service contracts, they are responsible for the full functionality of rolling stock and charging stations around the clock for 15 years of their operation. In addition, suppliers assume the risks and costs of ensuring the reliability and uptime of all electric bus systems.

Replacing one diesel bus with an electric bus reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the environment by 60.7 tons per year. The increase in the number of electric buses is expected to reduce emissions by 86 thousand tons per year in the coming years.

The use of a new type of transport allows not only to reduce the level of harmful emissions, but also to reduce operating costs, to simplify the maintenance of rolling stock (the service life of an electric bus is 15 years under the terms of a service contract), to reduce the level of noise and vibration in the cabin by 30 percent compared to buses …

The Moscow electric bus can accommodate 85 passengers and has 30 or more seats. Transport is also convenient for passengers with limited mobility: electric buses have a low floor level, there is a ramp and a storage area. Also, electric buses are equipped with satellite navigation, the cabin has climate control, USB connectors for charging mobile devices, and information media screens.

The use of electric buses contributes to the development of sustainable infrastructure. For the new type of transport, ultrafast charging stations are being installed throughout the city – now there are more than 150 of them, but it is planned that by the end of 2023 there will be about 500. The charging stations are unified, they can be used by electric buses from different manufacturers.

The electric bus is quickly charged, reaching a full charge in 6-10 minutes, which allows you to travel 50 kilometers. In addition, it is the most reliable urban transport. As energy storage devices in electric buses, modern lithium-titanate batteries are used, which are the safest in terms of operational characteristics.
