Military Medical Academy. CM. Kirov is 223 years old. On this occasion, a solemn event was held at the academy, in which graduates headed not only military medical institutions, but also leading civilian medical centers of the country took part.

Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Ergashev addressed the Academy with congratulations. “The Academy has always distinguished itself with the best medical personnel in Russia. I am very glad that these traditions are being preserved, ”he said.

Deputy Chief of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the RF Ministry of Defense, Major General of the Medical Service Oleg Kalachev, congratulated the Academy on behalf of Dmitry Trishkin, Chief of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the RF Ministry of Defense.

Traditions established by outstanding academics, Nobel laureates, founders of reputable research schools. Their fundamental works are the pride of not only Russian, but also world science, ”Dmitry Trishkin said in a telegram.

The staff of the academy was congratulated by the head of the academy, Major General of the Medical Service Yevgeny Kryukov. According to him, “organ donation has been mastered within the walls of the academy, cellular, biomedical and 3D technologies have been put on stream. High-tech equipment allows training military doctors, treating patients at a completely new level, relying on the achievements of modern science, and graduates – to successfully apply the knowledge gained in various fields of medicine, ”noted Evgeny Kryukov.

One of the long-term traditions of the academy is the Assembly speech dedicated to the main scientific and practical achievements in the field of military medicine. This year Nikolai Fomin, Head of the Department of Operative Surgery, made a speech with the Act. He spoke about the peculiarities of the study of combat surgical trauma of mine-explosive wounds. In his report, Nikolai Fomin gave examples of scientific research aimed at studying terminal wound ballistics of bullet and shrapnel wounds. He stressed that the academy has become the cradle of many scientific discoveries on mine explosive injury.

Another tradition on the Academy’s birthday is the presentation of a diploma, medal and mantle of the “Honorary Doctor of the Russian Military Medical Academy.”

The head of the academy Yevgeny Kryukov congratulated on the conferment of the honorary title of Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Head of the 2nd Department (advanced therapy for doctors), Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Foreign Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Vladimir Grinevich.

On this day, state and departmental awards, as well as certificates of honor and gratitude from the President of the Russian Federation and the Minister of Defense were received by employees of the Military Medical Academy.

Congratulations to the Academy were received from representatives of the St. Petersburg administration, medical universities and other educational institutions. All speakers noted the Academy’s great services in the field of military medicine and Russian health care and thanked the teachers for their help in establishing the profession and preserving the great traditions that the Military Medical Academy has been proud of for over 200 years.

At the end of the solemn part, a festive concert, prepared by the cadets, took place.

On December 18 (29), 1798, Emperor Paul I signed a decree “on the establishment of a special building for a medical school and educational theaters at the main hospitals.” The Academic Council, which took place on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the Academy in 1898, decided to consider this date as the day of the foundation of the Medical-Surgical (Military Medical Academy). However, medical schools on the Vyborg side appeared in the middle of the 18th century at the Admiralty and Land hospitals, the foundation of which was laid by Peter I, and in 1773 educational surgical schools were opened at the hospitals, which were united into the Main Medical School, which trained doctors for the army and the Russian fleet.
