The crews of the Su-27 fighters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation worked out landings on the conditionally damaged strip of the Chkalovsk airfield in the Kaliningrad region.

According to the plan of the training, after completing tasks in the air during the landing approach, the pilot received an introduction from the flight director about the conditional destruction of airfield communications by the enemy and partial damage to the runway.

In this situation, the crews urgently made a decision to go around in order to determine the nature and degree of damage to the runway and, after clarifying the situation, they landed the aircraft at a shortened distance. The fighters also performed short-range takeoffs.

The flights were carried out both in the daytime and at night. In total, more than 20 sorties were performed by fighter pilots of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation during the flight shift.
