City services are ready to work in low temperatures.

In the penultimate working week of the year, a cold snap will come to Moscow. Before the weekend, the thermometer will drop to minus 20 degrees and below.

On Tuesday, December 21, forecasters predict 18-20 degrees below zero regardless of the time of day. The city will be cloudy with clearings, light snow in some places.

The longest night of the year, on December 22, may be the coldest – up to minus 25 degrees. In the afternoon, it will again be from minus 18 to minus 20 degrees. At the same time, no significant precipitation is expected.

On Thursday, the thermometer will show from minus 15 to minus 17 degrees during the day and from minus 19 to minus 21 degrees at night.

By Friday, the air temperature will start to rise slightly: at night they predict 15–20 degrees below zero, in the daytime it is already 10–15 degrees below zero. The same weather will remain on Saturday night, and during the day it will get warmer to minus two degrees. It will snow at times.

According to the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Petra Biryukova, city services are ready to work in low temperatures. “All heat generation facilities are operating normally. Emergency services have been put on high alert, ”he said. The city has formed a sufficient reserve of heat and power capacity, water supply and sewerage systems are working properly.
