Roman Kozhevnikov, a teacher at the specialized interregional training center of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service for the Novosibirsk Region, received public recognition in the “Event Volunteering” category. This is a type of volunteer activity aimed at helping to organize and conduct significant events.

This year, as a volunteer, a UIS employee took part in organizing several dozen projects and events of a regional and all-Russian scale, including the Ski Track of Russia, Cross of Nations, Race of Heroes and others.

The prize in the field of volunteering “I am a volunteer”, awarded in 13 nominations, was established in 2017 as part of the implementation of the state program “Development of the state youth policy of the Novosibirsk region for 2016–2021”. Its goal is to support and develop volunteerism in the region and to encourage the best volunteers.

Roman Kozhevnikov goes in for sports and volunteering in his spare time, he is a multiple winner of various awards in this field. He began volunteering in the army in 2009, when he donated blood for the first time as part of a donor campaign.

The UIS employee is a master of sports in the Russian bench press and a candidate for master of sports in the national bench press (National Powerlifting Association), as well as an honorary donor of Russia.

To date, he has participated in more than a hundred volunteer events, including cleaning natural areas from garbage, presenting New Year’s gifts to children, helping elderly people who are in self-isolation, and others.

Note that the UIS employee Maria Omelchenko, Roman Kozhevnikov’s colleague at the interregional training center, also took part in the “I am a volunteer” award ceremony as a volunteer, rewarding the finalists and winners.
