The All-Russian foil fencing competition has ended in Khimki. Ilgar Mammadov’s fencing center brought together 68 best foil fencers of the country, including all three silver medalists of the Olympic team tournament in Tokyo: army men Anton and Kirill Borodachev and Vladislav Mylnikov from Kursk.

At these competitions, the brothers for the first time participated in a new status – privates of the CSKA sports company, Samara. Athletes joined the ranks of the sports company this fall. They will have to undergo a one-year conscription service, combining it with performing at competitions as part of the Russian national team.

The Borodachevs fenced confidently and shared the podium among themselves. True, in the duel for reaching the final, the brothers had to fight each other. Anton Borodachev beat Kirill with a score – 15: 7. In the final, Anton Borodachev was stronger than Vladislav Mylnikov from the Kursk region – 15:13 and won the gold medal. Kirill Borodachev became the bronze medalist, sharing the third step of the podium with Daniil Fedorov from St. Petersburg.

All-Russian competitions are in the selection system for the upcoming World Fencing Championship in 2022, and the guys confidently entered the process. But there are still several qualifying tournaments ahead, the closest of which are the Russian Cup in Smolensk and the World Cup in Paris.

We add that today the Borodachev brothers lead the all-Russian rating in foil fencing.

At the 2021 Olympics, for the first time in 25 years, the Russian men’s national epee team won a silver medal. As part of the team, the army foil fencers – Anton and Kirill Borodachevs performed and became prize-winners.
