Within the framework of international cooperation in the Federal Penitentiary Service, a working meeting of representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Murmansk Region and the Norwegian Penitentiary Service was held in the videoconference mode.

The event, which was attended by representatives of the international department of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia and employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Murmansk region, was held on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the penitentiary services of Russia and Norway, as well as the Work Program of bilateral cooperation for 2020 – 2022.

According to the agreements reached, experience exchange has been carried out for more than 15 years, practices for working with convicts are being studied, new programs are being introduced, joint projects and seminars are being held.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the types of punishments that are not related to isolation from society, used in the Russian Federation, paid special attention to the rehabilitation programs for convicts, which were studied in the framework of bilateral cooperation, in particular, the program “For sober driving”, implemented both in the Northern region of Norway, and in the Murmansk region.

As a result of the event, the parties thanked each other for the meeting, recognized the importance and necessity of cooperation, and also agreed on the topics and dates for further working meetings of experts of the penitentiary systems.
