Another 17.89 percent do not plan to put up a Christmas tree at all. 11.21 percent of the voters want to bring home a felled living tree. 4.95 percent of Muscovites will decorate the premises with pine needles, and 3.04 percent will buy a Christmas tree in a pot. The original symbol of the holiday from paper, cardboard and other recycled materials will make 1.64 percent of the voters.
The ecological action “Christmas tree cycle” will take place from January 2 to February 20, 2022. According to the rules, trees must be brought to the reception points without tinsel and other decorations. Christmas trees, pines and firs will be accepted, and they will be sent for processing to make wood chips, which will be used, for example, to create ecological paths.
The campaign has been running since 2016. Last season, Muscovites brought more than 44.5 thousand trees to the reception centers. Over 22 percent of this number handed them over to those points that were chosen by the users of the “Active Citizen” in a similar vote.
The Active Citizen project appeared in 2014. In seven years, more than 5.7 million people have joined it. Participants decide which streets, courtyards and parks need to be put in order, how city clinics, libraries, multifunctional centers should work, and also choose events for festivals and celebrations. Since the start of the project, Muscovites have taken part in more than five thousand votes. Decisions supported by a majority vote are implemented in the city. Since the end of last year, project participants also have the opportunity to send their accumulated points to charity.
The “Active Citizen” project is being developed by the capital Department of Information Technology and GKU “New management technologies”.
