In the schools of North Ossetia, military-patriotic events were held to assign the names of the Heroes of Russia to the servicemen of the Pacific Fleet – Marine Andrey Dneprovsky and sailor Aldar Tsydenzhapov. The Andrey Dneprovsky Marine Corps Museum was opened in the Beslan school.

A group of officers from the Pacific Fleet arrived at the event to mark the opening of the museum and the names of the classes.

The officers conducted Lessons of Courage, told the children about the heroic deeds of the heroes, as well as about the peculiarities of service in the Pacific Fleet. At the opening of the museum, officers donated books and items of naval ammunition.

For reference:

Andrey Dneprovsky took part in the counter-terrorist operation in the Chechen Republic. In February 1995, while carrying out a combat mission to clean up the southeastern region of Grozny, he saved the lives of two sailors who were ambushed by militants and carried the body of the deceased. A month later, while carrying out a combat mission to capture the Goiten Court hill, his reconnaissance group neutralized the militants’ outposts. In the course of the fleeting battle, Dneprovsky destroyed two militants, ensured the company’s unhindered approach to the height and the successful completion of the combat mission without loss of personnel. Dneprovsky died heroically in the destruction of another ambush by the militants. He was awarded the Hero of Russia Star posthumously.

Sailor Aldar Tsydenzhapov prevented a catastrophe on the destroyer “Bystry”. On September 24, 2010, a fire broke out in the engine room of the Bystry destroyer due to a short circuit in the electrical wiring at the time of the breakthrough of the fuel pipeline. Sailor Aldar Tsydenzhapov, who was on duty as a boiler-house operator, blocked the fuel leak. For about nine seconds, he was in the center of the fire and received severe burns. Skillful actions of Aldar and his colleagues made it possible to turn off the ship’s power plant and save it from death.

By the decree of the President of Russia dated November 16, 2010, Aldar Batorovich Tsydenzhapov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation posthumously.

Aldar Tsydenzhapov became the first sailor – Hero of the Russian Federation, after whom the battleship of the Russian fleet was named. The crew of the ship bears the name of the Hero with honor in the Pacific Fleet.
