According to the plan for the supply of the main types of weapons and military equipment in 2021, a batch of five high-altitude MiG-31BM interceptor fighters entered service with the fighter aviation regiment of the Central Military District (CVO) stationed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The main weapons were delivered to the regiment from an aircraft building plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The MiG-31BM underwent a comprehensive update of technical components and assemblies, equipped with updated avionics, navigation and electronic equipment, which made it possible to improve the tactical characteristics and increase the combat capabilities of interceptor fighters.

The MiG-31BM are designed to intercept and destroy air targets, including cruise and ballistic missiles, at extremely low, medium and high altitudes in simple and difficult weather conditions. The MiG-31BM is designed to perform tasks at an altitude of over 20,000 meters at a speed of about 3,000 km / h. It is equipped with the Zaslon-M airborne radar, which is capable of detecting targets at a distance of up to 320 km and aiming at them ground-based air defense systems, as well as other fighters.
