More than 200 metropolitan sites have joined the international safe tourism program.

In an effort to meet all safety requirements in a difficult epidemiological situation, Moscow tourism and hospitality facilities are joining Safe Travels, a project of the World Travel and Tourism Council. Within the framework of this program, international safety standards have been developed for travel companies, hotels, cultural venues, catering establishments and tourist infrastructure facilities. Safe Travels Protocols combine local and national legal advice with World Health Organization guidelines.

To receive the Safe Travels international mark, which confirms a responsible approach to the implementation of all recommendations and sanitary standards (on maintaining social distance, monitoring the health of employees, the availability of personal protective equipment, and others), you must apply for the official website of the project… The check is given 10 days. If the applicant meets the requirements, he is registered in the Safe Travels system and the information is placed in the Safe Travels Discover Moscow register.

To date, more than 230 applications for participation in the program have been received. 221 organizations have already received international marks. Objects are regularly checked to confirm the right to own this mark.

Program participants

Among those who have joined the program is the State Darwin Museum.

The control visit of the program specialists to the institution takes place once a quarter. According to Igor Kopytov, the main motivation for the museum in receiving the Safe Travels distinction was to take care of visitors. So far, this applies only to Russian tourists, but in the future the international sign can become an additional tool to attract foreign travelers.

“Today, the safety of human health is a priority throughout the world. This year, the Darwin Museum was nominated for the “Guiding Star” award, the most prestigious in the field of tourism and hospitality in our city. And one of the main conditions for participation in the competition for museums, restaurants and hotels is the presence of the Safe Travels sign, which, as we think, is correct, “added Igor Kopytov.

Another member of the Safe Travels program is the Moscow Zoo.

“Safe Travels has its own protocol, but it largely meets the requirements of anti-corruption measures established by Rospotrebnadzor. Since the Moscow Zoo since the beginning of the pandemic has complied with all the requirements of Rospotrebnadzor, it was not difficult for us to pass the check. We received Safe Travels badges to be placed at each entrance to the zoo, ”the press service of the institution said.

Like other Moscow sites, the zoo was checked for masks for visitors, markings and information signs about the need to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters. Also, Safe Travels experts found out whether the facility has enough sanitizers and air recirculators in closed rooms. In addition, we looked at whether employees were keeping their distance, whether they were wearing personal protective equipment, and whether their temperature was measured before the start of the working day.

“Having received the Safe Travels international mark, the Moscow Zoo became a participant in a marketing program to promote Moscow as one of the safest cities for tourism. We are glad to have joined this program, as the Safe Travels mark means that the tourist facility adheres to all sanitary standards and recommendations of the relevant authorities. This creates a high level of trust in the institution and, in the long term, in the Russian capital as a whole, “the press service of the Moscow Zoo noted.

The institution was one of the first to join the project in January 2021.
