At the basing point of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL), the air defense (AD) forces on duty took part in an exercise to detect unidentified air targets and repel a missile and bomb strike of a simulated enemy air attack.

The sailors organized the control of air defense forces and means to repel the “enemy” strikes against the basing points and ships at sea, worked out the distribution of targets and firing missions to the air defense posts of ships through various communication channels. Also, the crews carried out measures to activate electronic camouflage means in order to misinform the imaginary enemy.

After detecting and classifying air targets, the air defense crews of the ships destroyed the simulated enemy at a range from the Palash and Palma anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems, as well as the AK-630 and AK 630-M2 Duet artillery mounts.

During the exercise, special attention was paid to the reduction of the time required for decision-making by the commanders, as well as actions when cruise missiles enter the far border of the zone of destruction of anti-aircraft missile systems.

In total, the crews of more than 10 surface ships of the KFL, including the missile ships Dagestan and Tatarstan, small missile and artillery ships Grad Sviyazhsk, Volgodonsk, Makhachkala and Astrakhan, took part in the combat training events.
