As Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko noted, PPK Russian Ecological Operator received more than a thousand applications for the best projects in the field of promoting the environment, conscious consumption, and proper handling of municipal solid waste.

In the nomination “Public organizations, volunteers, private eco-initiatives”, the Second Wind charitable foundation won by launching a project to collect and recycle used things. In the category “Culture and Art” the award was presented to the organizers of the Ecocup Film Festival. The best media project was the “Sortirovochnaya” YouTube channel, which tells about the rules for separating waste and, in general, about the sphere of handling them. The Association of Green Universities of Russia was recognized as the best among the contenders for the victory in the “Education” nomination. Among the brands, the Ingka group won with the Mega and IKEA brands, they became the leaders in the number of projects for the collection of recyclable materials and reduction of the volume of used packaging presented to the jury.

Victoria Abramchenko noted that it is the activity of citizens, volunteers, and business that plays a key role in solving environmental problems. “Many environmental events would have been impossible without volunteers. In 2021, more than a million people took part in activities to clean up banks and rivers from garbage. This is 10% more citizens than in the last two years, despite the pandemic. Another area where volunteers are actively working is the restoration of our forests. In 2021, 1.3 million people planted more than 70 million trees as part of the Save the Forest and the Garden of Remembrance campaigns. This is almost twice as much as in previous years, – said Victoria Abramchenko. – Ecology truly unites. She has no boundaries and political views. And it directly affects the well-being and quality of life of every person. “

The Deputy Prime Minister also said that in 2021, much has been done to improve the environment and create new regulations. “During this year, we have prepared over a hundred different levels of regulatory changes in the field of nature protection, ecology and climate,” said Victoria Abramchenko. For example, the introduction of the responsibility of enterprises for the accumulated environmental damage, as well as the “coloring” of environmental payments.

In addition, Victoria Abramchenko noted the work within the framework of the national project “Ecology”. “We are gradually reducing the share of waste sent to landfills and increasing the level of recycling. Sorting of waste by the end of 2021 exceeded 40%. The government allocated 1 billion rubles for the purchase of containers for separate waste collection. More than 65 thousand containers have been purchased in 46 regions of our country, ”the Deputy Prime Minister said.

In addition, she spoke about the work on the elimination of objects of accumulated harm. “This is the so-called general cleaning of the country. The events have improved the quality of life of about 4 million people, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister. Among the most significant results of 2021 is the elimination of the largest landfill in Europe within the boundaries of Chelyabinsk, the completion of priority measures in Usolye-Sibirskoye.

The development of specially protected natural areas has not gone unnoticed either. “Over the past two years, we have selected 35 national parks for the creation and development of tourist infrastructure. More than 530 million rubles have already been allocated for this. The projects will help preserve the natural heritage and realize the tourism potential of these territories. But it is quite high. More than 10 million people visited the national parks in 2021. This is 20% more than we planned, “- said Victoria Abramchenko.
