In the Moscow region, at the Golovenki training ground, officers of the Red Banner Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District performed regular tank fire as part of a training session with battalion commanders in conditions of abnormally low temperatures for the region.

At the time the combat vehicles left the park, the temperature at the range was -24 degrees. The crews of the T-72B3 and T-80U tanks performed a test firing exercise, during which they destroyed tanks, recoilless guns and grenade launchers of the imaginary enemy.

The tank commanders had to destroy low-flying aircraft of the simulated enemy at a distance of 600 to 1200 meters from large-caliber 12.7-mm Kord machine guns.

Based on the results of the shooting, each officer received an assessment, which will be put on the list and sent to the military unit at the officer’s place of service. In total, more than 100 servicemen and more than 30 pieces of weapons and military equipment of the ZVO tank association took part in the shooting.
