Dmitry Chernyshenko chaired a meeting of the interdepartmental commission on the implementation of the Russian State Policy Strategy towards the Russian Cossacks for 2021-2030

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko chaired a meeting of the interdepartmental commission on the implementation of the Russian State Policy Strategy towards the Russian Cossacks for 2021–2030. Its goal is to consolidate the Russian Cossacks, preserve and develop the spiritual heritage and culture, as well as attract them to public service. The strategy was approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The event was attended by the head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov, the head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Ksenia Razuvaeva, Ataman of the All-Russian Cossack Society Nikolai Doluda, Chairman of the Synodal Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church for Interaction with the Cossacks, Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiaries in the federal districts, representatives of the Ministry of Sports, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Education of Russia, as well as atamans of the country’s military Cossack societies.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the Cossacks have become an important public institution in Russia. Cossacks are involved in the protection of public order and the protection of the state border, participate in countering drug trafficking, liquidation of the consequences of natural disasters and work in other important areas.

The Deputy Prime Minister supported the FADN proposal on the issue of state support for the activities of Cossack societies and instructed to submit the agreed proposals by March 1, 2022.

“The government approved an action plan for the implementation of the strategy, which included 101 events. It is important to control their implementation, as well as systematic work aimed at effective interaction of regions with the All-Russian Cossack Society for the benefit of the interests of the state, ”Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed.

He also recalled that President Vladimir Putin ordered the creation of the Central Museum of Russian Cossacks on the basis of the State Historical Museum. In this connection, the Ministry of Culture, together with the State Historical Museum, should prepare a detailed “road map” and submit it to the Government.
