Servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, together with benefactors, held a humanitarian action in a remote region of Nagorno-Karabakh as part of the New Year holidays. Specialists of the Humanitarian Response Center congratulated and presented more than 800 children from the school in the Vank settlement of the Mardakert region, located near the demarcation line.

“The Russian peacekeeping contingent, together with the association of charitable organizations, held a New Year event in the Mardakert region, in the village of Vank. More than 800 children received New Year’s gifts, toys and sweets, ”said Alexander Kudrin, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

Children and school teachers thanked the specialists of the humanitarian response center of the Russian peacekeeping contingent and representatives of the charitable foundation for the assistance provided, toys and New Year’s sets.

“First, I want to say a huge thank you to you, Russian peacekeepers, that you are protecting our lands, helping us to defend our lands. Today we are at Vank secondary school, we arranged such a small New Year’s concert, thanks to you. Our children were very glad that you presented gifts, small and large – there is no difference. The main thing is that they gave smiles to our children, ”said Mira Lazaryan, a resident of Mardakert region.

During the holidays, Russian peacekeepers, together with benefactors, will hold about 70 humanitarian actions and present gifts to about 8,000 children from remote areas of Nagorno-Karabakh near the borderline of the sides.

Earlier, another consignment of humanitarian cargo for the children of Nagorno-Karabakh was delivered from Moscow to Yerevan by a military transport aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry. Humanitarian aid weighing about 20 tons was collected by charitable organizations and loaded onto a military aircraft at the Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow region. Further, the cargo from Yerevan was delivered by peacekeepers to Nagorno-Karabakh.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.
