The rescue tug SB-406 and the multifunctional icebreaker “Ilya Muromets” of the Northern Fleet are completing the transition from the Baltic to the Barents Sea after the restoration of technical readiness at the shipyards of the United Shipbuilding Corporation in St. Petersburg. Their arrival at their permanent bases on the Kola Peninsula is expected in the coming days.

The last stage of the inter-fleet passage of ships in the Norwegian and Barents Seas was complicated by stormy weather. The crews of the tug SB-406 and the icebreaker “Ilya Muromets” successfully coped with the storm in the open sea.

After arriving at the bases and passing special coursework tasks, the vessels will be fully involved in providing combat training, daily, and expeditionary activities of the Northern Fleet in 2022.
