Order of December 24, 2021 No. 3822-r

The regions will receive more than 1.7 billion rubles from the federal center to compensate for the costs of extinguishing forest fires. The order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The funds will be directed to Komi, Yakutia, Kamchatka, Chukotka, Irkutsk Oblast and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug.

The decision was announced by Mikhail Mishustin at meeting with deputy prime ministers on December 27.

He recalled that in 2021 more than 10.3 million hectares of forest were damaged by fire. In some areas, an emergency regime had to be introduced.

A comment

From the opening remarks by Mikhail Mishustin at an operational meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers, December 27, 2021

To extinguish fires, especially in remote areas, the regions actively used the forces and means of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergencies and Avialesoohrana, and attracted helicopters from private companies.

“This is a serious, and most importantly, unforeseen burden on regional budgets,” stated the Prime Minister. “We hope that these allocations will help to pay off accounts payable due to unforeseen expenses for extinguishing forest fires.”
