Today, a group of rescue vessels of the Northern Fleet’s Search and Rescue Directorate has held practical exercises with diving specialists on launching under low temperature conditions.

The training took place in Severomorsk aboard the Ivan Shvets raid diving boat. Diving specialists complied with the standards for checking equipment, equipment and communications, worked out the correct organization of diving descents in compliance with the requirements and safety measures.

In the course of work at depths of up to 20 meters, the divers inspected the underwater part of the floating berth and visually assessed the reliability of structures and connections, and performed welding work.

Diving descents were complicated by strong gusty winds and low air temperatures. When working under water in such conditions, icing of the metal parts of the breathing apparatus is possible. When conducting diving descents, special attention was paid to compliance with safety requirements.

They are monitored by remotely controlled underwater vehicles. A video camera is also installed on the divers’ helmets, allowing them to monitor the situation from the first person.
