More than 133 thousand servicemen of the Southern Military District (YuVO) were revaccinated against the new coronavirus infection. The category of revaccinated includes military personnel who received a full course of vaccination before June 1, 2021.

In the Southern Military District, more than 270 thousand people were vaccinated with the two components of Sputnik V, of which more than 200 thousand were military personnel and their family members, over 45 thousand were civilian personnel. In addition, the inoculation was given to students in military educational institutions and teaching staff, employees of organizations of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Vaccination is carried out on the basis of the branches of the district military clinical hospital of the Southern Military District and the medical units of the formations and military units of the district associations.

Before the introduction of the vaccine, the specialists of the medical service inform the patients about the effect of the drug “Gam-COVID-Vac” (“Sputnik V”) on the human body. Vaccination is carried out on a voluntary basis and after signing the consent for the introduction of the components of the drug. After the administration of the drug for half an hour, all persons are under the supervision of doctors.

More than 40 vaccination posts have been deployed on the territory of the military district and over 60 vaccination teams have been formed, half of which are mobile.

In order to provide massive assistance to medical institutions of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, oxygen is regularly delivered from the military airfields of the Southern Military District to hospitalized patients with COVID-19 who need oxygen support. The servicemen have already handed over 300 tons of oxygen to medical institutions.

In addition, in the 1602nd military clinical hospital of the Southern Military District, stationed in Rostov-on-Don, and its branch in Novocherkassk, beds are equipped for inpatient treatment of seriously ill COVID-19 civilians from the Rostov region.

Also, medical specialists of the Southern Military District provided assistance to residents of the Republic of Abkhazia. In a mobile multidisciplinary hospital deployed in Sukhum on August 18, 2021, more than 2 thousand residents of the Republic of Abkhazia who fell ill with a new coronavirus infection were admitted for treatment and consultation. 649 people underwent inpatient treatment, 1500 people underwent outpatient treatment.

Medical specialists of the Southern Military District conducted in shifts around the clock to receive patients and conduct medical and diagnostic measures, carried out PCR diagnostics of analyzes delivered from city laboratories.

In total, more than 10.5 thousand various laboratory diagnostic tests were carried out in the mobile laboratories of the field hospital, including over 4 thousand PCR tests and more than 1.7 thousand plain chest radiographs.
