The servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, together with benefactors, within the framework of the New Year holidays, simultaneously held more than 10 humanitarian actions per day in the Askeran region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Specialists of the Humanitarian Response Center congratulated and presented more than 1,700 children from kindergartens and schools in remote settlements of the Askeran region of Nagorno-Karabakh, located near the line of demarcation of the sides.

“Today the Russian peacekeeping contingent organized a New Year’s action in Askeran region, in the city of Askeran. One thousand seven hundred children received New Year’s gifts, toys, sweets. I also express my gratitude to the kids for the magical New Year’s matinee. New Year’s actions in Askeran region will continue tomorrow, ”said Alexander Kudrin, a representative of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

Children and school teachers thanked the Russian peacekeepers and benefactors for the humanitarian aid, toys and New Year’s kits.

“Today Russian peacekeepers came to us and gave us New Year’s gifts. Thank you for the gifts and Happy New Year, ”said Gor Aghababyan, a student of the Askeran school.

During the holidays, Russian peacekeepers, together with benefactors, will hold about 70 humanitarian actions and present gifts to about 8,000 children from remote areas of Nagorno-Karabakh near the borderline of the sides.

Earlier, another consignment of humanitarian cargo for the children of Nagorno-Karabakh was delivered from Moscow to Yerevan by a military transport aircraft of the Russian Defense Ministry. Humanitarian aid weighing about 20 tons was collected by charitable organizations and loaded onto a military aircraft at the Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow region. Further, the cargo from Yerevan was delivered by peacekeepers to Nagorno-Karabakh.

A peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation is deployed to control the ceasefire and military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.

In accordance with the agreements specified in the joint statement of the President of the Russian Federation, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, from 00:00 Moscow time on November 10, 2020, a complete ceasefire and all hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh were announced.
