In the Moscow region, servicemen of the Taman Motorized Rifle Division of the Guards Tank Red Banner Army of the Western Military District congratulated 97-year-old veteran, retired Colonel Evdokimov Yevgeny Semyonovich on the upcoming New Year.

The servicemen set up a commemorative plaque at the entrance of the house with the inscription: “A veteran lives here” and invited Yevgeny Semyonovich to the balcony. The combined orchestra of the Taman division was waiting for him in the courtyard of the house. The servicemen congratulated the veteran on the coming New Year and wished him good health. The orchestra performed military marches as a musical gift for Yevgeny Semyonovich.

At the end of the orchestra’s performance, the servicemen presented the veteran with a New Year’s gift from the unit, and also handed over a food set as part of providing targeted assistance to sponsored veterans.

In gratitude, Evgeny Semenovich invited the servicemen for a cup of tea and spoke about his exploits during the Great Patriotic War.

Retired Colonel Evdokimov Evgeny Semenovich, during the war, commander of a platoon of 82-mm mortars of the Red Banner Mountain Rifle Regiment, participated in the liberation of Czechoslovakia. For his exploits he was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the Orders of the Patriotic War I and II degrees, medals “For Courage”, “For Military Merit”, “For the Liberation of Czechoslovakia” and others.
