Today, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Alexei Serko awarded the Nevsky Rescue Center EMERCOM of Russia the Order of Zhukov – for courage and dedication shown in the course of training and combat missions, high indicators in combat and professional training. The corresponding order was signed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The solemn ceremony of attaching the order to the Battle Banner of the Nevsky SC took place on the stage of the Izhora CDC in the city of Kolpino, where the Center is based.

Addressing the audience with a welcoming speech, Alexey Serko noted that the Nevsky SC has a rich history, its forces and means were used both in war and in peacetime. Even today they are successfully fulfilling all the assigned tasks. He also said: “The Nevsky Rescue Center of EMERCOM of Russia has come a glorious way. This is a military unit that defended Leningrad during the war and blockade. The further combat path is known in the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Today, its fighters are involved in many activities, in particular, they are engaged in mine clearance. Residents of Kaliningrad are immensely grateful for the help in demining aerial bombs and ammunition during the Great Patriotic War. I wish all personnel to proudly carry the Banner of the Center, the name of the EMERCOM of Russia employee, and in the future to do everything so that our people live and work in peace, and we will stand guard and come to the rescue in any danger. “

As part of the event, the guests were given an excursion around the territory of the rescue center and samples of rescue equipment and weapons were presented.

The event ended with a festive concert timed to coincide with the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Nevsky Rescue Center of the EMERCOM of Russia.

For reference: The Nevsky Rescue Center of the EMERCOM of Russia traces its history back to June 1936, when the 4th regiment of local air defense was created, which entered the air defense formations of the Leningrad Military District. On July 1, 2000, the regiment was reorganized into the 346th Red Banner Rescue Center named after Lensovet EMERCOM of Russia. The modern name of the Nevsky Rescue Center of the EMERCOM of Russia received its modern name in August 2014.

During the Great Patriotic War, the regiment’s specialists were engaged in the installation of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines and land mines, erected various engineering structures, took part in the suppression of fires, the transportation of goods along the Road of Life, etc. More than 2,200 opponents were eliminated by the regiment’s snipers.

Already in peacetime, the center’s specialists took part in eliminating the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the earthquake in Neftegorsk, the delivery of humanitarian aid and the transportation of refugees in the Chechen Republic. Over time, the range of works performed by the specialists of the center has expanded. Elimination of the consequences of earthquakes, extinguishing forest and peat fires, aviation accidents and natural disasters, carrying out rescue operations in case of collapsed buildings and in the natural environment, participating in humanitarian convoys, demining territories – this is just an incomplete list of the work performed by the fighters of the center.

In the context of a new coronavirus infection spreading around the world, disinfection treatment of territories and facilities not only in St. Petersburg, but also in other regions of the North-West of the Russian Federation was added to these tasks.

For the high results achieved in combat readiness, professional training, strengthening military discipline and the successful fulfillment of the tasks set by the EMERCOM of Russia, the Nevsky Rescue Center was repeatedly awarded the challenge pennant “The best rescue military unit of the EMERCOM of Russia”. Today, one more significant award has been added to these regalia – the Order of Zhukov.
