The servicemen of the transport aviation regiment of the Central Military District (CVO) within the framework of the all-Russian action “Christmas tree of desires”, fulfilled the dream of Yekaterinburg schoolchildren and organized a teleconference with the cosmonaut.

Military pilots who are involved in search and rescue support for launches and landings of Soyuz MS spacecraft learned about the schoolchildren’s enthusiasm for astronautics and, as part of the Christmas Tree of Desires campaign, organized a teleconference with Russian test cosmonaut Sergei Valerievich Prokopiev. During the event, which took place in the school aviation museum, students of the 6th, 7th, 8th and 11th grades talked with Sergei Valerievich about how his flight into orbit took place and the details of scientific experiments that he performed in outer space.

In addition, Sergei Prokopyev told the children how to become an astronaut and what requirements are now imposed on the members of the space squad. At the end of the event, the schoolchildren invited Sergei Prokopyev to visit the school museum and asked him to transfer his photo with the astronaut’s personal autograph to his collection. The photograph will be delivered to Yekaterinburg by plane An-12, which transported the Soyuz MS-20 descent vehicle from Zhezkazgan to Moscow.

Sergei Valerievich Prokopyev was born on February 19, 1975 in Sverdlovsk. In 1992 he graduated from secondary school No. 64 in Yekaterinburg. Russian test cosmonaut of the Roskosmos cosmonaut corps. He made a space flight on the Soyuz MS-09 manned transport spacecraft in June-December 2018 to the International Space Station. Member of the main space expeditions ISS-56/57.
