The competition was attended by over 90 athletes representing the combined teams of military units and formations of the Southern Military District, stationed in the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories, Karachay-Cherkessia and Adygea. Each team was represented by participants in seven weight categories.
According to the rules of the ARB, military athletes performed in special equipment. Competitions were held according to the Olympic system with the elimination of participants after two defeats. The duration of each battle is 3 minutes.
For the first time at the ARB championships, athletes were evaluated in such nominations as “Best technique of fighting”, “Best throw” and “Fastest fight”.
In the team classification, the first place was taken by athletes from the Cossack motorized rifle brigade of the Southern Military District, stationed in the Stavropol Territory. The second place went to the soldiers of the mountain motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District, stationed in Karachay-Cherkessia. The third were servicemen of an anti-aircraft missile brigade from the Krasnodar Territory.
Seven winners in the individual championship will be included in the national team of the 49th combined-arms army, which will take part in the ARB championship of the Southern Military District.
For reference: army hand-to-hand combat has incorporated the best and most effective elements from boxing, taekwando, karate, sambo, judo, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. In this sport, it is allowed to work with arms, legs, as well as use throws and painful holds.
