As part of the conduct of combat duty in 2021, more than 170 launches of foreign and domestic ballistic missiles and space missiles were detected by the Russian missile attack warning system, specialized means of space control and anti-missile defense systems.
The Russian missile attack warning system (EWS) solves the problem of receiving and issuing trajectory data for generating missile attack warning information at state and military command posts, the necessary information for the anti-missile defense system of Moscow, as well as issuing data on space objects for the control system outer space in the interests of information support for solving the problems of deterrence from the delivery of missile strikes against the Russian Federation and increasing the effectiveness of the response actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The basis of the ground echelon radar systems of the PRN system are radar stations of the new generation of the Voronezh type, created on the territory of the Russian Federation using the technology of high factory readiness.
Currently, seven new Voronezh radar stations deployed in the Leningrad, Kaliningrad, Irkutsk, Orenburg regions of Krasnodar, Krasnoyarsk and Altai territories are on alert for radar control of missile-hazardous directions in the established zones of responsibility. Work continues on the creation of new radar stations in the Murmansk region. This year it is planned to complete the construction of the Voronezh radar station in the Komi Republic.
