More than 50 new and modernized units of military and special equipment entered service with the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan in 2021.

According to the plan for equipping the troops, the unit was supplied with upgraded T-72B3M tanks with improved combat characteristics, modernized BMP-2M infantry fighting vehicles, repair and locksmith shops, maintenance workshops for the repair of weapons and military equipment in the field. Also in 2021, the base received a batch of new AK-12 assault rifles, modern portable anti-aircraft missile systems “Verba”, large-caliber sniper rifles ASVK-M, 12.7-mm NSV “Utes” machine guns, anti-tank missile systems “Kornet”. The artillery units were reinforced with the Aistenok portable reconnaissance and fire control radar system, designed to reconnoitre the positions of enemy fire weapons, calculate the trajectories of projectiles, and adjust the fire of friendly fire weapons.

The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders. Located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
