At the Russian Erebuni airbase of the Southern Military District (YMO) in Armenia, the results of the formation’s activities for 2021 were summed up.

The pilots of the MiG-29 fighters and the crews of the army aviation on the Ka-52 and Mi-8MTV-5 helicopters exceeded the annual plan for the total flight time by more than 20%.

During training flights, the pilots completed the program for a total flight time of more than 2 thousand hours. On average, each pilot had flown over ten months over 70 hours.

During the year, the squadrons of army and fighter aviation took part in tactical flight exercises, where they performed combat launches of guided missiles, elements of simple, complex and higher piloting at extremely low and high altitudes, maneuvering as part of combat pairs and units when testing a new method of action in reconnaissance shock (fire) complexes.

The command of the airbase pays increased attention to the professional training of young pilots who have arrived in the formation. Due to the difficult climatic conditions (low clouds, dense fogs), as well as the high mountains, young pilots need special training.

The main tasks of the pilots of the Southern Military District in the Transcaucasus were carried out on round-the-clock duty in the unified air defense system of the CIS countries. They also performed training tasks for escorting convoys, landing tactical airborne assault forces, and providing fire support for the actions of reconnaissance and motorized rifle units.
