Decree of December 29, 2021 No. 2538

The Sverdlovsk Region will receive federal funding to reimburse the costs of creating the Village project for the participants of the XXXII World Summer Universiade, which will be held in 2023 in Yekaterinburg. For these purposes, the federal budget has already provided more than 914.6 million rubles.

The resolution, which was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, approved the rules for the provision of an interbudgetary transfer to the region. We are talking about compensation for funds spent on the design and survey work on the capital construction objects of the Village: hostels, a community center and a training field with athletics tracks.

The Games of the XXXII World Summer Universiade will be held from 7 to 19 August 2023 in Yekaterinburg. The sports program will include competitions in 18 sports, in which 246 sets of medals will compete. The number of participants will be about 10.5 thousand people, and the number of guests and spectators – more than 550 thousand.

In total, over 40 sports facilities will need to be built, reconstructed or renovated to host the Universiade. Among the facilities under construction are the Judo Palace, the Center for Rhythmic and Aesthetic Gymnastics, and the Water Sports Palace.
