Servicemen of the ships and military units of the Northern Fleet of the Orthodox faith took part in the celebrations dedicated to the celebration of the Nativity of Christ at services in the Temples located on the territory of the military garrisons of the fleet. The prayer services were held in compliance with sanitary rules and norms.

In the main base of the Northern Fleet – Severomorsk – naval sailors came to the Christmas service at the Church of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Lyubov and their mother Sophia and St. Andrew’s Naval Cathedral.

At the bases of the submarine forces and the Kola Flotilla of the Northern Fleet, festive prayers were held by the assistants of the commanders of the formations for work with believing servicemen. Similar services with the assistance of the Arkhangelsk diocese were held in the White Sea naval base.

On Kotelny Island of the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago, servicemen of the tactical group celebrated Christmas in the chapel of the Russian Orthodox Church. This small temple was built by the military together with civilian specialists. Church services are held here on a rotational basis. They were repeatedly performed by priests from the Yakutsk and Lena dioceses during their trips to Kotelny Island. In the absence of clergymen, one of the servicemen performs the duties of the temple caretaker. He maintains order and cleanliness in the chapel and provides his colleagues with the opportunity to pray and light candles.

In the chapel on the island of Alexandra Land of the Franz Josef Land archipelago and the St. Nicholas Church of the Novaya Zemlya for the servicemen of the Northern Fleet and the central training ground, church services were conducted by the priests of the Naryan-Mar diocese.
