An air group of more than 70 Il-76 and 5 An-124 airplanes created by the Russian Ministry of Defense transfers units of the Russian contingent of the CSTO peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan around the clock.
In accordance with the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council, adopted on January 6, 2022, the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization were sent to the Republic of Kazakhstan for a limited time to stabilize and normalize the situation.
They included units of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic.
The main tasks of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO will be the protection of important state and military facilities, assistance to the forces of law and order of the Republic of Kazakhstan in stabilizing the situation and returning it to the legal field.
From the Russian Federation, subdivisions and military units of the Airborne Forces entered the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces.
Earlier, advanced units from the Russian peacekeeping contingent arrived on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and began to fulfill the assigned tasks.
