The largest number of studies has been carried out at water treatment plants.
More than 2.5 million water quality analyzes were carried out in Moscow in 2021. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government for housing and communal services and improvement Peter Biryukov.
“Every day the capital consumes almost three million cubic meters of water, more than 13 thousand kilometers of water supply networks have been laid in the city. This huge system needs constant monitoring: today the state of tap water is analyzed according to 184 physicochemical, microbiological and hydrobiological indicators at all stages of its journey to the consumer, ”he said.
Control begins with reservoirs, where natural water is taken at different depths. This is necessary in order to identify differences in its composition and get a complete picture of the state of water bodies.
The largest number of studies – 1.3 million – was carried out at water treatment plants. Samples are taken at each stage.
In addition to laboratory control, water is checked using automatic analyzers. These devices are installed in the catchment areas, at water treatment plants and in the city distribution network. They continuously monitor changes in the main indicators of the composition of water, characterizing its quality, such as turbidity, color, electrical conductivity. The data from the analyzers are fed into a unified information system, which makes it possible to promptly make decisions on changing the technological modes of cleaning.
Experts monitor physicochemical and microbiological indicators around the clock and make adjustments to the water treatment technology so that fully purified drinking water that meets all the requirements of hygienic standards gets into the taps of Muscovites.
