In 2021, the fund of the branch of the Central Naval Library in the Admiralty was replenished with more than 2 thousand copies of books, newspapers and magazines. A significant part of the new acquisitions was donated to the library. Among the donors of particularly valuable and most interesting publications are the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, the Department of Navigation and Oceanography of the Navy, the Sredne-Nevsky shipyard, the shipbuilding company “Almaz” and many others.

The branch devotes most of its work to exhibition and excursion activities. The most significant projects in 2021 were the exhibitions “320 Years of Naval Education” and “To the 325th Anniversary of the Creation of the Russian Fleet”.

Book exhibitions prepared by the staff of the Central Naval Library are also accompanied by major events held by the Main Command of the Navy. Among them: the Main Naval Parade, the reception of delegations from Vietnam and Thailand, a scientific conference dedicated to the Russian hydrograph B.A. Vilkitsky, Geographical Dictation, etc. For example, for the Main Naval Parade, an exhibition was prepared “The First Naval Victory of the Russian Fleet: the Battle of Gangut.”

The branch continues to digitize the rare book fund. In 2021, 136 copies of rare editions were digitized, which are now available to readers not only in paper, but also in electronic form. Also, the readers of the branch have access to the electronic reading room of the Presidential Library named after B.N. Yeltsin and to the funds of the National Electronic Library.

The branch of the Central Naval Library is aimed at providing information support to requests and events of the Main Command of the Navy. This task was and is being carried out by the employees of the branch in accordance with the current regulations, despite the difficult epidemiological situation.

The branch of the Central Naval Library has been located in the building complex of the Main Admiralty in St. Petersburg since 2017. During the operation of the branch, more than 80% of the personnel of the Main Command of the Navy, as well as civilian personnel, officers arriving on business trips, and representatives of industrial enterprises cooperating with the command of the Navy, have become readers.
