The servicemen of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who arrived for humanitarian demining in the Nakai region of the Khammuan province of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, set up a branch of the center and began training Lao military personnel.

Specialists of the Ministry of Defense of the RF Armed Forces will train 30 Laotian sappers who will undergo theoretical and practical training using Russian sapper search and protection equipment.

The training of the Lao People’s Army personnel is carried out under the program “Organization of reconnaissance and cleaning the area (objects) from explosive objects.” Among the disciplines – “Means of search for explosive objects and protection of the sapper”, “Ammunition and weapons”, “Explosives” and “International standards of mine action”.

Both military sergeants and officers representing various units of the engineering troops of the national army, including teachers of military educational institutions: the military academy “Kommadam” and the “School of sergeants”, are trained.

This is the fourth time that similar training courses for sappers have been held in Laos, starting in 2018. During this time, 69 servicemen of the Lao engineering forces have been trained and trained.

In accordance with the decision of the President of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation sent a demining detachment of the International Mine Action Center of the RF Armed Forces in the amount of 31 servicemen to assist in the demining of the territory in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
