At the Tarskoye training ground in North Ossetia, the exercises of the artillery unit of the 58th combined-arms army started.

In the field, the crews of the 240-mm self-propelled mortars “Tulip” will strike at the critically important targets of the mock enemy. When completing the task, the personnel will covertly move into position, conduct additional reconnaissance of targets with the help of a drone and open fire with adjustable mines at targets imitating deep command posts, control points of air defense systems, unmanned strike aircraft of a simulated enemy located at a distance of up to 20 kilometers.

On the eve of the subunits of the artillerymen made a march in a combined way, having worked out on the route of movement the tasks of countering sabotage groups of the imaginary enemy and overcoming the contaminated areas of the terrain.

The 2S4 “Tulip” mortar is capable of firing conventional mines (weighing about 130 kilograms) at a distance of up to 9.5 kilometers, and active-reactive (weighing about 230 kilograms) up to 20 kilometers.
