In the institution of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Krasnodar Territory, within the framework of a circle work with teenagers, a lesson was held to teach the technique of painting wooden spoons in the Old Russian artistic style.

The word “Khokhloma” is a decorative painting of wooden furniture or tableware with golden, green and red paints on a black background. This Russian folk art craft arose in the second half of the 17th century in villages located on the left bank of the Volga.

Pupils took an active part in the training session, their interest in this type of arts and crafts is not accidental. The fact is that for several years there has been an ensemble of folk instruments “Belorechenskie Lozhkari” in the institution. The musical group is a regular participant in competitions held among the educational colonies of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. In addition, the ensemble regularly performs at amateur concerts organized in the colony.
