Business Weekend last year launched new formats of interaction with young entrepreneurs and the industry’s longest-running accelerator.

Project “Business Weekend”summarized the results of 2021. About seven thousand of its graduates have opened their own business.

“More than 70,000 people took part in the Business Weekend events. Over 30,000 of them were trained as part of the educational programs of the project. More than 8.3 thousand graduates have launched their own business. These are four new legal entities, 138 individual entrepreneurs and 8.1 thousand self-employed people who will contribute to the development of the economy of the capital,” said the head

As part of the Business Weekend project, new formats of interaction with young entrepreneurs were launched last year. For the first time, the business game “Enterprise” was organized for schoolchildren and students, it includes all stages of starting a business. Participants solved real business problems, learned how to open their own business. They could try themselves in the role of self-employed, individual entrepreneur or head of a limited liability company. The total number of participants was 345 people.

Another novelty is free trainings “Three steps of a successful start”. At them, the founders and managers of successful projects told how to run a business, helped participants find an idea and test its viability. 69 trainings were held, about 12 thousand listeners took part in them.

Also in 2021, for the first time, a series of industry-specific trainings on the development of soft skills were organized. They are designed for young people aged 17-35. This season, the emphasis was on developing public speaking skills. Lina Arifulina, director and producer, was the leader of the trainings, 420 people took part in the classes.

For the first time, an industry accelerator was organized, which became the longest program under the project (22 weeks). This is the last step and the logical conclusion of the pre-acceleration and acceleration programs of the Business Weekend. It is focused on multiplying the business performance of the participants, helping to attract investments by organizing regular pitch sessions and attracting entrepreneurs with international business experience as experts. Graduates of other programs and metropolitan entrepreneurs with a business registered not earlier than 2019 can join the industry accelerator. The graduation meeting of the first industry accelerator “Business Weekend” was held in early January 2022. Now 915 people are participating in it – these are 397 project teams.

In 2021, new streams of the traditional programs of the project took place. 14 streams of the pre-acceleration program were organized, in which more than three thousand people took part. In addition, two streams of the Business Weekend accelerator took place. In May, the number of participants was 615 people, and in October – 360.

Early start, or how young Muscovites start a business

Last year, the program “Business Weekend. Competencies”. The number of skills for which you can get free training increased from three to 20. The program ran from August to the end of December, more than 25,000 people were trained, of which about 8,000 registered as self-employed.

In 2021, the training of schoolchildren and college students under the program “Business Weekend. Start”. More than 50 thousand students took part in introductory trainings, and 2.1 thousand people completed their training. 427 of the most active graduates presented their projects at the Future in Your Hands competition.

“Business Weekend” is a free project to teach college and university students the basics of doing business, implemented under the auspices of Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the City of Moscow. Since the launch of the project in October 2018, 160,692 people have taken part in its activities.
