Thirty modern tanks with improved combat characteristics T-72B3M will be delivered to the Guards Tank Division of the Central Military District (TSVO) by the end of this year. Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, Commander of the Central Military District, told reporters about this.

“Thirty T-72B3M tanks with improved combat characteristics will enter service with one of the tank regiments of the Central Military District’s Guards Tank Division in the Chelyabinsk Region. T-72B3M will come to replace combat vehicles of earlier modifications, ”said Colonel-General Alexander Lapin. He noted that the features of the new combat vehicles in comparison with previous versions are a more powerful engine, an improved complex of weapons, aiming and control.

In T-72B3M tanks, the armor protection of the crew and the power plant has been increased due to the use of modern means of active and passive protection. The tank is equipped with a gun with improved ballistics and increased resource, as well as a panoramic sight “Sosna-U” with a thermal imager, installed at the workplace of the vehicle commander. Also, combat vehicles are equipped with a new engine and a noise-immune communication system “Aqueduct”.

Guards Vitebsk-Novgorod twice Red Banner tank division of the Central Military District was formed on December 1, 2016. It includes 3 tank, motorized rifle and self-propelled artillery regiments, an anti-aircraft missile battalion, a reconnaissance and engineer battalion, units and subunits of combat, logistic and technical support.
