About 20 crews of special heat engines TM-59 “Gorynych” started clearing the airfields of the Western Military District.

To maintain regular modes of training flights, despite the sharp cooling and increasing rainfall, the military personnel used equipment equipped with a VK-1A jet engine with a high velocity head, which is capable of heating the air up to 700 degrees Celsius.

The equipment involved allows servicemen to clean tens of meters per minute from ice and frost. Also, at the airfields stationed on the territory of the Western Military District, AKPM-3 watering machines filled with anti-icing reagents are involved.

Thanks to the work done, the crews of Su-34, Su-27, MiG-29SMT combat aircraft, Mi-8AMTSh, Mi-35 and Mi-28N combat helicopters will be able to safely take off, land and taxi at airfields.

In total, about 50 units of special equipment are involved in clearing ice and snow from airfields located in the Western Military District.
